从前，有个打柴人。他家里很穷，一家五口人都靠他打柴挣钱来养活。
有一天，打柴人去打柴，走了许多许多的路，到了从来没有到过的地方，觉得口干舌燥，便去找些水来喝。
远远地，打柴人听到有泉水潺潺的声音，就沿着水声找过去，最后在一棵大树下找到泉水。
打柴人发现有个老人躺在树下睡觉，他走路的声音把老人惊醒了。
