According to a survey, Chinese net citizens use social media for more than three hours per
day. Have the social media increased the contact between people or widened their distance?
That seems to be a tough question to answer. These platforms do shorten the distance
between people in time and space. but their psychological distance seems to be widening.
Sometimes people would rather look down and send 10 comments to distant strangers on
social media than look up and make eye contact with friends in front of them. In the past,
people divided friends into two types:close friends and nodding friends. Now there seems
