ssities but also luxuries. Nevertheless, a large number of individuals are not willing to
sacrifice their leisure time for a high-paying job, since they take social life as the maj
or source of happiness. As for me, I hold that jobs are more influential on every aspect o
f life, especially on happiness. To verify the validity of my perspective, three conspicuo
us reasons are listed below.First of all, the sense of achievement leading to the mental s
atisfaction can be acquired more from jobs than from social life. Due to the stress of com
petition, it is from the workplace rather than the recreational occasions that pragmatic s
kills and knowledge are effectively assimilated. Once those competitive edges take effect
in the process of obtaining the career goal, the promotion opportunities are most likely t
o present themselves, giving rise to the irreplaceable happiness. On the other hand, socia
l life which is full of randomness and casualness could hardly ignite a person’s ambition
or motivation for achieving happiness or satisfaction. This point can be best illustrated
with the example of my brother. Even though he has been fully occupied with the large amou
nt of work, only having four days of rest every month, he is still fulfilled with gratific
ation. He reveals that he makes progress ever work day in terms of the proficiency of the
abilities. In conclusion, the desirable competitiveness in career prospects wins individua
ls’ preference.Second of all, the job is the main financial source that guarantees a high
quality life. As the saying goes, the economic base lays the foundation for the superstruc
ture. Jobs providing regular salary and all the other insurances rid employees of the worr
ies about living expenses, while social life is the one of the largest expenditures. There
fore, the steady income influencing all the aspects of lives is the major source of a pers
on’s cheerfulness. A research conducted by China Daily in 2014 reveals that among 1000 cit
izens in Hangzhou, 86 percent of them give the priority to their job rather than their soc
ial life, for they regard the job as the material insurance and spiritual security. As a r
esult, jobs play a more essential role to secure a relatively sufficient life in this stre
ssful society. Only by holding a job position can a person be independent enough to take g
ood care of his own life and then lead a fulfilling life. Finally, the state of physical an
d psychological well-being can be better consolidated by jobs than by social life. The rou
tine job serves as a promising vehicle for boosting one’s immune system, for there is a fa
vorable balance between working and living. The access to the work experience solidifies o
ne’s flexibility, endurance and coordination, leading to the accumulation of vigorousness
and happiness. On the other hand, due to the lack of self-discipline, chances are good tha
t most people’s social life is easy to go wild, including staying up all night long and ov
ereating frequently. As a case in point, my mother used to be a housewife and her social l
ife occupied the most part of her life. However, there came a disorder in her daily life b
ecause of the chaotic rest. And sometimes she even suffered from insomnia and other malign
ant diseases. Fortunately, most of the problems were progressively alleviated after my mom
went back to work. In a word, jobs help gain healthy and light-hearted mentality and phys
ical situation.Based on the reasons discussed above, we may safely draw a conclusion that
jobs matters more in the sense of happiness than social life does, because the knowledge b
ase, the financial guarantee and the health condition are better enhanced by jobs.
